Many thanks to the members of the RADAR PITCH jury, Tomm Moore, József Fülöp, and Stefan Stratil.
The award is sponsored by the Austrian Economic Chamber (WKO & WKO Wien, Fachverband Film- und Musikwirtschaft).

ENI BRANDNER

Project Title: PANTOPOS
Eni Brandner - PANTOPOS

Jury statement: Eni Brandner’s pitch of her film project Pantopos was clear, convincing and well structured: A strong political message is transported by an unusual look where actors and animation characters get mixed and distorted and combined with rich baroque settings. Eni’s visualisations and explanations made the complex project understandable, technically as well as aesthetically. This way she was able to arouse the interest of all three jury-members with the professional quality of both her project and her presentation.

Animateur-Alex-Gratzer

Jury statement: When you discover a film, especially one created by a student, and you like it for the film, but then it’s even better when you realize you found an author, a director that you want to follow in the future and from whom you want to see the next work. Because this film is challenging the medium of cinema and animation with humor, because it fits very well to “Narration” as the main topic of this year’s festival, and because this director is clearly showing his own way and approach to storytelling – ANIMATEUR deserves the RADAR AWARD 2018.

Jury Special Mentions

Staubentor - Ruth Erharter, Verena Gross, Raffael Preting, David Sommeregger

RUTH ERHARTER, VERENA GROSS, RAFFAEL PRETING, DAVID SOMMEREGGER – Staubentor

2017 | 4 min 05 sec | AT

Jury statement: It’s a really nice way to talk about history and to see the library as a keeper of our history – which is so easily lost. It also shows a convincing use of animation techniques.

Freedom - Kathrin Steinbacher

KATHRIN STEINBACHER – Freedom

2017 | 3 min | AT

Jury statement: A touching film about not losing the goal we have in life, whatever this goal is. Because it’s a perfect translation of this emotional story into a language that reflects the authenticity and, through the images that are depicting, so well a passion. This strong story can appeal to everybody – even if you don’t like to ski.

Insomnia - Jiyoon Lee

JIYOON LEE – Insomnia

VERONIKA SCHUBERT – “In erster Linie”

2016 | 5 min 30 sec | AT
SCHUBERT_in-erster-linie
